Privacy policy
This policy explains what personal information Shadow Fleet collects, how we use it and the choices you have. It covers the people who use our platform and the visitors to this site. It does not govern the vessel, sanctions and maritime data we process about ships and the entities that operate them, which is operational intelligence rather than personal information.
Information we use to provide the service
Information you submit to us
When you request access, speak with our team or open an account, you give us business contact details such as your name, work email, organization, role and anything you write in a message to us. Account holders also give us the credentials and settings needed to run the service.
Information we obtain from other sources
We may receive business contact and firmographic information about you or your organization from our partners and from publicly available professional sources, used to qualify access requests and keep account records current.
Information we collect automatically
When you use the site or the platform we collect standard technical information: IP address, browser and device type, pages and features used, and timestamps. We use cookies and similar technologies for sign-in, security and basic analytics. You can control cookies through your browser; some are required for the service to function.
How we use information
We use the information above to operate, secure and improve the service, to respond to access requests and support, to communicate with account holders, to meet legal and regulatory obligations, and to detect and prevent abuse. We do not sell personal information.
Sharing your information
We share personal information only as needed to run the service: with vetted service providers acting on our instructions (hosting, communications, analytics), where required by law or valid legal process, to protect the rights and safety of Shadow Fleet and others, and in connection with a merger, financing or sale of assets. Providers are bound to use the information only for the services they perform for us.
Analytics and do-not-track
We use a limited set of analytics tools to understand how the site and platform are used. Because there is no industry-standard definition for it, we do not currently respond to browser "do not track" signals.
Your choices
You can ask us to access, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you, and you can unsubscribe from non-essential email using the link in any such message or by writing to us. We will honour requests as required by applicable law; some records are retained where we have a legal basis or obligation to keep them.
Security
We use technical and organizational measures appropriate to the sensitivity of the data, including encryption in transit, access controls and logging. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect information and to notify affected parties and regulators where the law requires it. To report a vulnerability, see our responsible disclosure policy.
Third-party links and services
The site and platform may link to services we do not control. Their handling of your information is governed by their own policies, not this one.
Children
Shadow Fleet is a business tool not directed to anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.
European and UK residents: legal bases and your rights
Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, our legal bases for processing are the performance of our contract with you, our legitimate interests in operating and securing the service, your consent where we ask for it, and compliance with legal obligations. You have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict and port your information, to object to certain processing, and to lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority. We retain information only as long as needed for the purposes above or as the law requires.
International transfers
We operate worldwide and may process information in countries other than your own, including outside the EEA. Where we transfer personal information across borders we rely on appropriate safeguards, such as standard contractual clauses, where required.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the date above and, for material changes, give notice through the service or by email.
