Terms of service
These terms govern your use of the Shadow Fleet platform, this site and anything we make available through them (the "service"). By requesting access, opening an account or using the service you agree to them. If you are agreeing on behalf of an organization, you confirm you have authority to bind it.
Introduction
Shadow Fleet provides sanctions and maritime risk intelligence: detection of dark vessel activity, ship-to-ship transfers and identity manipulation, with AI agents that investigate each event and return a confirmed identification and evidence trail. These terms, together with any order or access agreement we sign with you, form the agreement between us.
Eligibility
The service is for business and professional use by people aged 18 or over. Access is granted at our discretion and may require us to verify you and your organization, including for sanctions, export-control and lawful-use screening.
Registration and account security
You must give accurate registration information and keep it current. You are responsible for your credentials and for activity under your account, and you must notify us promptly of any unauthorized use. We may suspend access where account security is at risk.
Use of the service
We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the service for your internal business purposes during your access term, subject to these terms and any scope agreed in your order. The service and its outputs are provided as intelligence to inform your own judgement, not as legal, compliance or enforcement advice.
Acceptable use
You agree not to: use the service unlawfully or to facilitate sanctions evasion or other illegal activity; resell or redistribute the data or outputs except as your order permits; reverse engineer, scrape or probe the service outside agreed interfaces; interfere with its operation or security; or use it to harass, endanger or unlawfully surveil any person. You are responsible for using outputs in line with applicable law in your jurisdiction.
Intellectual property
The service, including the platform, models, data compilations and brand, is owned by Shadow Fleet and its licensors. We retain all rights not expressly granted. Feedback you give us may be used to improve the service without obligation. Content you submit remains yours, and you grant us the rights needed to operate the service for you.
Fees and payment
Where the service is paid, fees, billing frequency and currency are set out in your order. Fees are payable as agreed and are exclusive of taxes, which you are responsible for except for taxes on our income. We may change prices on renewal with reasonable notice.
Term, renewal and cancellation
Access runs for the term in your order and may renew as stated there. Either party may decline renewal or end the agreement for material breach that is not cured within a reasonable period. Cancellation does not entitle you to a refund of fees already due except where the law requires it.
Privacy
Our handling of personal information is described in our privacy policy, which forms part of these terms.
Disclaimers
The service is provided "as is." Intelligence outputs are probabilistic and drawn from third-party and public data that may be incomplete or delayed; we do not warrant that any detection, identification or absence of a signal is complete or error-free, and you should corroborate before acting. To the extent permitted by law we disclaim implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.
Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, neither party is liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages, and our total liability arising from the service is limited to the fees you paid for it in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
Termination
We may suspend or terminate access for breach of these terms, for legal or sanctions-compliance reasons, or where required to protect the service or others. On termination your right to use the service ends; clauses that by their nature should survive will survive.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Norway, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and the courts of Oslo will have jurisdiction, unless a separate signed agreement with you states otherwise.
Changes
We may update these terms. For material changes we will give notice through the service or by email, and continued use after they take effect means you accept them.
